EDI Connections

EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange. An EDI integration involves sharing a series of files back and forth between Sellercloud and the channel. This file transfer is often done through a VAN, a type of network often used to transmit EDI documents from sender to recipient.

The formatting of an EDI document is more regulated and uniform than a file sent from a marketplace using a plugin. Each type of EDI document is recognized by a number, for example, documents containing order details are called 850. This numbering system, as well as the formatting structure, is uniform for all marketplaces or users of EDI documentation.

The marketplace will often require a series of test documents to be transmitted between Sellercloud and the marketplace for such integrations. Typically, your representative from that channel will want to see that Sellercloud can successfully receive and acknowledge an order, send tracking, and send inventory in formats their system will accept before they allow the transmission of real account documents over the connection.

Some examples of retailers that use EDI integrations include Wayfair and Overstock.
